"I'm algae, you're algae, we're all algae"
algae is an independent fashion magazine featuring emerging artists and their vision towards a more sustainable future. Our magazine is open to all, but we are especially interested in writing and art from BIPOC creators, LGBTQIA+ creators, and those interested in exploring sustainability.
Issue 01 #NO TRASH is our first-born project. It is an introduction to sustainability, the importance of community, and repurposing trash—which is what we believe to be one of the most accessible ways to create art and consume fashion.
Issue 02 #PRIDE highlights writing and art from BIPOC creators, LGBTQIA+ creators, and those interested in exploring sustainable fashion through the lens of culture, revolution, and identity.
Issue 03 #REGENERATION explores the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and technology—highlighting groundbreaking discoveries in biomaterials research and conceptual design. The concept of "REGENERATION" powerfully encapsulates the issue’s focus on sustainability, circularity, and innovation, reinforcing our magazine’s mission of fostering a future where fashion and lifestyle choices work in harmony with the environment.
Our motto is "No Trash!" because we believe in the power of transforming discarded materials into art and fashion—further showcasing our creative vision, which is to give life to the discarded and forgotten items around us. Throughout all of three editions of Algae Magazine, we carefully dissect the meaning of sustainability and how people around the world are working to rectify the climate crisis through their creations. “Self-sufficiency is the key to sustainability, Community is essential for ongoing success.”
